Compact for Success Requirements

The strength of the Compact for Success Program lies in rigorous college prep courses (A-G curriculum) available to all students. After completing all Compact requirements, students have the opportunity of guaranteed admission to SDSU.

The Compact guarantee of admission is only for students entering SDSU as first-time freshman.  The guarantee does not apply to transfer students.

These requirements must be completed by the time of your application review.

  1. Continuous enrollment in Sweetwater Union High School District (SUHSD) schools from 7th-12th grade (as of October 2011) and graduation from a SUHSD high school
  2. Clear English remediation or be on track to clear by the end of senior year. (details on how to clear English remediation)
  3. Clear Math remediation or be on track to clear by the end of senior year. (details on how to clear Math remediation)
  4. Complete the A-G Requirements with grades of C or higher by the end of senior year. For more information about A-G Requirements, please visit the SDSU Admissions requirements page.
  5. Attain a 3.0 CSU GPA at the time of application and maintain through 12th grade. To calculate your CSU GPA, please visit the CSU Mentor GPA Calculator.
  6. Take the SAT or ACT exams no later than November of 12th grade. (Please note that SAT or ACT Math and English scores can help students clear remediation for Math and/or English)
  7. Obtain a minimum CSU eligibility index of 2900 for SAT; 694 for ACT. Visit the following page to learn more about the eligibility index or to use the eligibility calculator.
  8. Meet all SDSU admission/enrollment deadlines including submitting a first-time freshman application to San Diego State University
    1. CSU Mentor application must be submitted between October 1 and November 30
    2. Must not have any D or F grades during 12th grade
    3. Admitted students interested in enrollment must submit their Intent to Enroll by May 1.

The Compact for Success does not guarantee admission to majors with additional qualifications required for admissions. Currently, those majors include Nursing, Music, Dance, and Theatre: Performance.
